MAKE-UP TIPS FOR TEENAGERS
Once a girl reaches high school, it is inevitable that she will want
to wear make-up. This is a natural phase, and one that should not be
discouraged. However, there are some definite dos and don’ts when it
comes to teenagers and make-up.

Supple young skin needs far less make-up than the skin of an adult.
Although it may be tempting to cover acne or pimples with foundation, a
young woman who is just beginning to experiment with make-up need not
bother with foundation. Foundation is for maturing skin of women 35
years of age and older. For teenagers, a concealer, followed by a thin
layer of face powder is best for covering up blemishes of any kind.
Regardless of age, it is important to remember a basic rule of thumb.
Never play up both eyes and lips. Accenting both eyes and lips will give
you the classic circus clown look. If you like wearing dark dramatic
lipstick, stay away from heavy blush or dramatic eye shadow and just
wear a light shade of eye shadow and a little mascara. However, if your
eyes are one of your best features, go all out. Wearing heavy eye
makeup, though, means going for nude lips with just a touch of lip
gloss. Teenagers should never use a lip liner darker than her lip gloss
or lipstick and there is no need for a teenager to ever wear heavy
liner.
If you aren’t sure whether to highlight your eyes or your lips, you
may want to consider the feature that people comment on most often. If
they compliment you on your beautiful, luscious lips, go ahead and play
with bold lipstick colors, lip liners and lip gloss. If they focus on
your eye color, experiment with eye shadow colors that complement your
eyes and be sure to add mascara to your lashes.
It doesn’t matter how old or how young you may be, however, too much
makeup will only make you l ook
bad, not good. Anyone who wears foundation, powder, blush, liner,
mascara, eye shadow, lip liner and gloss every single day is not only
overdoing it, she is damaging her skin. All any teenager really needs on
a consistent basis is mascara, gloss and if she has blemishes, a little
concealer, with an occasional pop of blush on her cheekbones.
Many experts advise teenagers to forego the eyeliner and invest in a
quality eye shadow collection instead. If you choose to wear eyeliner,
never line the inside of your lower lid because it will make your eyes
appear to be smaller than they are and an obvious straight line does not
look natural. A better choice would be to lightly dab the eyeliner
between your lower lashes and then to lightly smudge the line with your
fingertip.
Wearing make up does not come without having to take some steps to
care for your skin. It is important to develop skin care habits now that
will last a lifetime. First of all, it is important that you always
cleanse your skin to remove makeup and oils every night. You should also
use gentle facial scrubs daily apply a purifying mask each week to help
keep pores clear and skin fresh. However, the most important beauty
product in any skin care regimen is sunscreen, and it should be used
every single day, even when there is no sunshine. Good skin care habits
start early in life and using sunscreen to protect your skin while still
in your teens and establishing a routine for taking are of your skin
properly means that you will have beautiful, healthy looking skin well
into your 50s and beyond. |
